We are one of ten(10) International Chapters in key locations abroad where Guyanese reside. The Toronto Chapter was formed on July 28, 1985, and became an incorporated body in May 1992.
The primary objective of our Association is fund-raising for the School in Georgetown. We raise funds by successfully organizing events such as cultural evenings, dinner dances, theatre productions, bake sales, and art exhibitions. These endeavours are held throughout the year and allow us to send money, books, equipment and other necessities as requested by the Head Mistress. We work closely with the Old Students' Association in Georgetown, and they advise us regularly of the needs and requirements of the School.
The Toronto Chapter is proud of several other achievements. We have established a network to help our membership both professionally and personally, and created a social climate to share our experiences and memories with our friends, our families and especially with each other.
Further, because of the examples set by our group, we have been asked on occasion to counsel and assist our fellow school groups in forming their own alumni Associations here in Toronto.
Our Association has been effectively helping our alma mater in Georgetown for over ten years , and will continue to do so. To keep us in touch with our membership, and to encourage their support and cooperation, we hold regular meetings.
Our Newsletter, "The School Tie" is published quarterly and mailed to alumni all across Canada, and sometimes beyond.
